Security beefed up at Shahjalal Airport over Tarique's homecoming
Bangla Press Desk: Hours before the arrival of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, authorities have ensured a multi-layer security cordon at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) combining different law enforcement agencies.
Armed teams of the Army, police, RAB, BGB, APBN, Ansar, and security agency members in plain clothes were deployed in early morning, doubling the safety arrangement that has been in place for the last couple of days.
Intelligence and surveillance operations have been strengthened in and around the airport, with additional police personnel and specialised security units deployed.
Public access to the airport premises have been restricted for 24 hours prior to Tarique’s arrival, allowing entry only to designated passengers and authorized individuals.
Security checks at all entry and exit points have been intensified, and the situation is being monitored continuously to prevent any untoward incidents.
From the airport to his residence and public gathering venues, law enforcement agencies and the BNP are preparing to maintain the highest level of vigilance at every stage.
Meanwhile, several BNP standing committee members including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir have reached the airport to welcome Tarique.
The BNP Acting Chairman is expected to reach Dhaka at 11:55 through a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Londdon, ending his over 17 years of exile.
