Son shoots and kills parents in Connecticut
Staff Reporter: 25-year-old man charged with murder of his parents in Waterbury double shooting A man has been charged with murdering his parents in a double shooting Monday in Waterbury, police said.
The suspect, Javian Adams, 25, of Waterbury, was charged with murder with special circumstances, murder-commission of felony, reckless endangerment in the first degree, criminal possession of a firearm, larceny of a motor vehicle, criminal use of a weapon and carrying a pistol without a permit. During a press conference Wednesday morning, police identified his mother as Carlene Williams, 52, of Waterbury, and father as Marc Adams, 55, of Waterbury.
On Monday night, responding officers found two people in a Beverly Avenue house suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Adams’ bond was set at $5 million, and he is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
Police said Adams had a “significant” history of domestic violence, and he was on probation for prior domestic violence arrests. In court Wednesday, they said that the argument leading up to the alleged murders was about money.
Adams had been arrested Tuesday morning, in connection with a burglary in Watertown. In part due to a suspected connection to the homicides, authorities had asked the public to be on the lookout for things they say he abandoned, including a white Ford Escape, bookbag and sneakers.
On Wednesday, Waterbury police said the car was located at a park in Middlebury and will be forensically processed.
Investigators say Adams used a nine millimeter gun to kill his mother and father and that four shell casings were found. The search for the gun is still underway. The shooting and the burglary remain under investigation.
The homicides are the 7th and 8th in the city this year, so far.
Waterbury police held a press conference Wednesday to discuss details of the double homicide. Watch the video above.
