Special prayers to be held for Khaleda Zia in all mosques Friday
Bangla Press Desk: The Islamic Foundation, an organisation under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has said that special prayers will be offered in all mosques across the country on Friday for former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
In an official letter issued on Tuesday by the Foundation’s Coordination Division and signed by its Director Md Mohiuddin, it stated that as part of the state mourning programme, the national flag will be hoisted at half-mast for three days at all government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, and educational institutions, as well as public and private buildings, and Bangladesh missions abroad.
The letter added that special prayers seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Khaleda Zia will be held after Jumma prayer on Friday in all mosques across the country, reports BSS.
The Islamic Foundation also requested its divisional and district offices to ensure that the national flag is hoisted at half-mast during the state mourning period and to take all necessary measures to organise the special prayers in line with the directive.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) said it will also organise prayer sessions across the country on Friday, seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of the party chief.
In the capital, a milad and doa mahfil will be held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan after Asr prayer, while other units of the party will organise similar programmes across the country at their convenience, according to a press statement issued on Thursday.
