State awards for 40 fugitive police officers revoked
Bangla Press Desk:  The government has revoked gallantry and service awards of 40 fugitive police officers for their allegedly criminal activities committed under the Awami League government. The list includes former DB chief Harun-or-Rashid, and additional deputy inspector general Biplab Kumar Sarkar, among others. The Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) and President’s Police Medal (PPM) of the officials have been withdrawn, said a notification issued by the Public Security Division of Home Ministry on Thursday. The matter came to light on Sunday. The officials are under disciplinary probes for “fleeing their workplaces,” the notification added.
The officials hold ranks including deputy inspector general, additional deputy inspector general, superintendent, additional superintendent, and inspector. They went into hiding following the ouster of the Awami League government on 5 August last year. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
