State Minister Joins Local Funeral in Unusual Act of Compassion
Bangla Press Desk: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yeaser Khan Choudhury has drawn widespread praise after pausing his official convoy to personally participate in a local burial, bypassing standard government protocol.
The incident occurred on Friday while he was returning from foundation-laying and inauguration events for development projects in Nandail upazila in Mymensingh.Locals reported that earlier that morning, Azimul Mia, 40, son of late Amir Hossain of Garua village in Nandail municipality, passed away due to a heart attack.
By the afternoon, his family and neighbours were preparing for the burial next to their home. A light rain began to fall as the preparations were underway.
Noticing the burial in progress, Yeaser immediately stopped his convoy, went down to the grave site, and actively assisted in lowering the body into the grave, working alongside local residents.
Observers said it was remarkable that he participated in the burial without informing anyone or following any official protocol.Local resident Arefin Haque said that after the burial, the minister joined the prayer for the soul of the deceased before continuing on his journey.
He added that such gestures of standing by ordinary citizens beyond official responsibilities are rare and demonstrate true humanity.
Eyewitness and Nandail upazila BNP Secretary Md Enamul Qadir expressed astonishment, saying, “Seeing a government minister personally participate in a burial while disregarding official protocol is a remarkable and rare sight in these times.”
