Bangla Press Desk: BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has asked its party leaders and activists to secure the trust of every voter ahead of the national election scheduled for February.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Thursday, he wrote, “One of our key responsibilities is to secure the trust of every voter in the country. To achieve this, as a democratic political party, the BNP is reaching out to people from all walks of life—from the grassroots to every class and profession of society—to reflect the hopes and aspirations of today's and tomorrow's youth. We are strengthening the party's organizational structure from the villages to the centre. Through this coordinated effort, we aim to ensure transparency and accountability.”
In response to various allegations, organizational action has already been taken against more than 7,000 party members. Some have been removed from their positions, while many have been expelled for corruption, extortion, and misconduct. Making such decisions was not easy amidst widespread misinformation, but they were essential given the circumstances. Discipline is not a weakness; rather, it is our strength. By holding our own members accountable, we have once again proven that the BNP is sincere about integrity and that we hold ourselves to the same standards we demand from those in power.
This is how we want to rebuild public trust, especially among the youth, who do not want to see politics as merely a game of power but as a noble field built on everyone's participation.
