Tarique to meet IAB ameer Rezaul Karim this evening

Bangla Press Desk:   BNP Chairperson and Prime Minister-designate Tarique Rahman is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim this evening.

According to Tarique’s Press Secretary, Saleh Shibly, the BNP chief will visit the IAB ameer’s residence at 7:00pm today (Monday).

The meeting comes as Tarique intensifies his engagements with key political leaders ahead of the formation of the new government, following the BNP’s decisive victory in Thursday’s national election.

On Sunday, he paid courtesy calls on Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam. The meetings were held just days before the BNP is expected to assume office.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan accompanied Tarique during the earlier visits.

The BNP is set to form the next government after securing 209 seats in the parliamentary polls. In the same election, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats, the National Citizen Party secured six, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh obtained one seat.
