Tarique visits IAB ameer’s residence

Bangla Press Desk:  In a rare political gesture, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman paid a courtesy call on Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim at the latter’s residence in the capital on Monday evening.

The BNP chief arrived at the IAB ameer’s residence on Siddheshwari Road around 7:15pm, when Rezaul Karim welcomed him. IAB Secretary General Yunus Ahmad was also present.BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan accompanied Tarique Rahman during the visit.According to BNP sources, the courtesy call aimed to discuss the post-election situation, political coexistence, and future cooperation.

On Sunday, Tarique paid courtesy calls on Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and National Citizen Party Convener Nahid Islam. 

The meetings come as Tarique has intensified his engagements with key political leaders ahead of the formation of the new government, following the BNP’s landslide victory in the 12 February election.

In the 13th parliamentary polls, the BNP secured 209 seats, Jamaat won 68, and NCP bagged six, and IAB one.
