Thailand accuses Cambodia of violating ceasefire along border
Bangla Press Desk: The Royal Thai Government has accused Cambodian military forces of violating a recently agreed ceasefire by launching indiscriminate attacks along the Thai-Cambodian border, despite ongoing efforts to restore peace. In an official statement issued on Tuesday (29 July), the Thai government said that Monday’s dialogue and negotiation in Putrajaya led to a ceasefire agreement between both sides, with hopes of restoring peace for the peoples of the two countries. Thailand reaffirmed its commitment to the agreement and said it was strictly adhering to the terms. However, the statement alleged that Cambodian forces had launched continuous attacks on Thai territory across various border areas even after the ceasefire came into effect. In response, the Thai military has taken proportionate action to protect national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the lives of civilians. The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been assigned to inform the international community—particularly the United States, China, and Malaysia, who witnessed the earlier negotiations—about what it called Cambodia’s lack of sincerity.
All branches of the Thai military have been placed on alert to safeguard national security, the statement said, adding that Thailand remains open to further discussions at higher levels, while ruling out any compromise on sovereignty. At the same time, Thailand expressed willingness to resume dialogue at the regional command level, as agreed earlier, in order to end the violence and prevent further casualties among civilians and military personnel. The Thai government also called for public unity, urging citizens to rely on official channels for updates and avoid disinformation or politically motivated manipulation. Authorities have been directed to assist those affected by the conflict, particularly in evacuation and repatriation efforts. “Team Thailand will continue to carry out our duties with full dedication for the nation and the people,” the statement concluded.
