Three Awami League leaders held with petrol bombs in Gazipur
Bangla Press Desk: Police have arrested three leaders of the Awami League’s affiliated organisations — two from the Chhatra League and one from the Swechchhasebak League — with petrol bombs and iron pipes in Gazipur’s Sadar upazila.
The trio was detained on Wednesday evening from the southern side of the Phoenix Hatchery area along the Dhaka–Mymensingh highway after locals reported suspicious activity to the police.
Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam, who led the operation, said the detainees are Bhawalgar Union Chhatra League President Noman (28), Office Secretary Akash (25), and Bhawalgar Union Swechchhasebak League Joint Convener Russell (35).
“They were found carrying petrol bombs and iron pipes. The explosives have been seized and the three are now in police custody,” said Joydebpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Touhid Ahmed.
He added that legal action against the detainees is underway.
