Three workers burnt in shoe factory fire in Bangshal
Bangla Press Desk: Three workers sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out at a shoe factory in Bangshal area of Dhaka early Monday.
The incident occurred around 1:40am at the factory located in Sikkatuli Mazar Goli under Bangshal Police Station.
The injured— Ainuddin, 45, Amir Uddin, 40, and Ruman, 16 —are undergoing treatment at the Burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Ruman told reporters at the hospital that they were working the night shift when the fire suddenly erupted from adhesive solution used in the factory.
“The flames spread very quickly. We were all burnt. We somehow managed to reach Dhaka Medical ourselves,” he said.
Md Faruk, in-charge at the hospital police outpost, said the victims arrived at the emergency unit around 2:15am and were later admitted to the burn unit.
Ainuddin sustained 20 percent of burns, Amir 10 percent of burns and Ruman 45 percent of burns, he added.
