Tight security at airport and surrounding areas

Bangla Press Desk:   Authorities have tightened security around the VIP gate and surrounding areas of Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport ahead of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s arrival.

Law enforcement personnel have taken positions along both sides of the road stretching from the airport exit gate to the Purbachal reception venue. The heaviest deployment is visible between the VIP gate and the main road.

Airport officials are allowing only passengers with urgent international flights to enter the premises. Journalists covering Tarique Rahman’s arrival must remain at least 200 yards away from the VIP gate.

Tarique Rahman, along with his family members and accompanying team, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:39am. Members of BNP’s standing committee greeted him in the airport’s red zone.
