Travel ban imposed on brother of ex-Army chief Aziz Ahmed
Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court on Sunday imposed a travel ban on Anis Ahmed, the brother of former Army chief General Aziz Ahmed, over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz passed the order following an application filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the application, an investigation is underway into allegations against former Army chief General Aziz Ahmed, including abuse of power, irregularities and corruption, amassing assets beyond known sources of income, and money laundering.
It further alleged that the funds were used to run businesses and purchase houses in Malaysia, Singapore, and Dubai.
According to reliable sources, Aziz Ahmed’s associate and brother, Anis Ahmed, is attempting to flee abroad.
Therefore, a travel ban is deemed necessary in the interest of a fair investigation, the application said.
