Truckload of fertilizer seized in Sherpur on charges of illegal storage
Bangla Press Desk: A truck carrying 26 tons of urea fertilizer has been seized in Nakla, Sherpur, on charges of illegally storing and selling fertilizer at high prices, disregarding government regulations.
According to information received from the scene, the truck came to Nakla from Ashuganj fertilizer factory using BADS and BCIC stickers. The driver or anyone concerned could not show any valid documents in support of the approximately 26 tons of urea fertilizer in the truck.
Eyewitnesses said that the truck first tried to load and unload at one place and failed, and then moved the fertilizer bags to another place, which created suspicion in the public. When local media personnel arrived on the news, the driver and the fertilizer owner could not give any good answers. It is initially believed that the fertilizers were brought from Ashuganj illegally. Later, the local police and the farmers' office seized the fertilizers.
In this regard, Nakla Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Jahangir Alam said, "Such actions against those who create artificial crisis in the fertilizer market and illegal hoarders will not be accepted. We will take legal action to protect the interests of farmers." Source: daily Sun
