US launches missile attack on Iran's Qeshm Island
BanglaPress Desk: The United States has launched two missile strikes on Qeshm Island in southern Iran. Authorities have yet to provide official information regarding the extent of the damage.
This was reported on Saturday (November 7) by Iran’s semi-official news agency, Tasnim.
According to the agency’s report, preliminary information indicates that two missiles struck the island. Further details will be provided once the relevant authorities confirm the incident.
Iranian state media reported that the sound of two explosions was heard in the Suza area of Qeshm Island, located near the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, the state news agency IRNA reported that local eyewitnesses saw two objects strike the Suza area of the island. They had also reported hearing the sound of aircraft in the sky over the island prior to the impact.
Meanwhile, the Qatar International Media Office has dismissed reports suggesting that an agreement has been reached to end the conflict between the United States and Iran, labeling such claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the office noted that the Prime Minister of Qatar confirmed that both sides are still working toward an agreement. Qatar’s mediation efforts continue, in close coordination with both Washington and Tehran, to facilitate the discussions.
Hours after reports of the explosions on Qeshm Island emerged, Iranian state media outlet IRIB reported that the country’s defense forces had shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone in the skies above the island.
Prior to this, on Friday, Iranian media—citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)—reported the destruction of a U.S. MQ-1 drone in the airspace over Qeshm Island, near the Strait of Hormuz.
