Vote for ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ to build a humane Bangladesh: Kader Gani

Bangla Press Desk: Kader Gani Chowdhury, assistant secretary for Information and Research Affairs of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has called upon the people from all walks of life to vote for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ electoral symbol to build a humane and prosperous Bangladesh.

He also urged the people to unite under the leadership of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman ahead of the national election slated for early February next year.

Speaking at a rally in Fatikchhari on Thursday, he described the BNP’s 31-point reform agenda as a roadmap for restoring democracy, good governance and social justice in the country.

“The people have never been deprived of their due rights after casting their votes for Sheaf of Paddy,” he said, adding that if voted to power, the BNP will uphold the people’s dignity and ensure development and peace and prosperity.

The BNP leaders, activists and supporters from various areas of Fatikchhari and Bhujpur began gathering at the madrasah grounds in small processions from noon and the Talimuddin Madrasa ground in Fatikchhari was packed to capacity by around 3pm.

Kader Gani addressed the rally and afterwards, he distributed leaflets outlining the 31-point agenda of the BNP in Bibirhat Market.

He said that Tarique Rahman envisions a humane Bangladesh, where people live in peace and no citizen is deprived of their rights.

Bangladesh’s political history has repeatedly challenged democracy, he said, adding that since independence, authoritarianism, misuse of power, corruption and the weakness of democratic institutions have continually thwarted the expectations of the people.

In particular, political vindictiveness, lack of a proper electoral process and transparency deficits have weakened the very foundation of democracy, he said.

The BNP’s 31-point agenda primarily identifies these crises and presents a new political vision.

It not only addresses these problems but also proposes a plan to build a sustainable democratic framework, he said.
