War may push up fuel, commodity prices, warns Fakhrul
Bangla Press Desk: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the country is heading toward difficult times. He urged people to endure the situation and move forward.
Mirza Fakhrul, also the BNP Secretary General, warned that the ongoing war is causing significant harm, and fuel prices as well as the prices of essential goods are likely to increase. He made these remarks on Monday while speaking as the chief guest after inaugurating the re-excavation programme of the Neha River in Raypur Union of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila.
Mirza Fakhrul said that due to the war, fuel supply has decreased, but vandalising petrol pumps is not appropriate. He emphasised that any form of mob activity will be dealt with strictly and no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
He also said that no irregularities in the canal excavation programme will be tolerated. Anyone involved in corruption or misconduct will not be forgiven, and both party and legal actions will be taken against them.
He highlighted that the excavation project is very important for maintaining environmental balance and creating opportunities for fish farming and duck rearing.
At the inauguration ceremony, State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad was present as a special guest. Also in attendance were District Commissioner Israt Farzana, Superintendent of Police Bellal Hossain, and local BNP leaders.
