Yunus thanks foreign medical teams for treating plane crash victims
  Bangla Press Desk: Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Sunday expressed deep gratitude to foreign medical teams for their swift and dedicated treatment of victims injured in the recent plane crash at Milestone School and College. A delegation of 21 doctors and nurses from Singapore, China, and India met with the Chief Adviser at the State Guest House Jamuna. The international teams are currently in Dhaka providing specialised medical care to those critically injured in the crash. During the meeting, Prof Yunus praised the teams for their prompt response and compassionate service, calling their efforts a symbol of international solidarity in times of national crisis. “These teams have come not just with their skills, but with their hearts,” said Prof Yunus. “Their presence reaffirms our shared humanity and the value of global partnerships in times of tragedy,” he added.
The visiting teams have been working closely with local medical professionals, particularly at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS), to provide trauma care, especially to young victims. The chief adviser also appreciated the rapid diplomatic coordination that enabled the arrival and deployment of the foreign teams without delay. He assured full government support for their mission in Bangladesh. Prof Yunus further urged the international medical teams to maintain long-term connections with Bangladesh through virtual collaboration, institutional exchange, and joint efforts in medical education, innovation, and capacity-building. “Such partnerships can lay the foundation for sustainable cooperation in public health and emergency preparedness,” he said.
Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum also thanked the visiting professionals for their support during this critical time. Prof Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Health, noted that many lives were saved because of the foreign doctors’ immediate intervention. Prof Dr Md Nasir Uddin, Director of NIBPS, added, “This tragedy has once again proven that doctors have no borders.” The delegation included 10 medical personnel from Singapore, eight from China, and three from India. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and the Singapore Head of Mission in Dhaka were also present during the meeting.  This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
