US expatriate journalist Main Uddin is no more

Staff Reporter: American expatriate journalist, Dhaka-based National Press Club and New York Bangladesh Press Club member Main Uddin Ahmed is no more (Innalillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajeun). He died on Sunday (January 1) at 11:29 pm local time) while undergoing treatment at the Jamaica Medical Center (hospital). He was suffering from various physical complications including kidney problems. Journalist Main Uddin’s son Riaz Ahmed confirmed the news of his father’s death.

Riaz Ahmed said that when his father fell ill last Tuesday (December 27) night, he was admitted to the Emergency Department of Jamaica Medical Center (Hospital) on an urgent basis. After an initial checkup at the hospital revealed a tumor on his kidney, doctors were checking for the possibility of cancer. Surgery was being planned. The doctors said that after the surgery, a biopsy will remove the suspicion of cancer and the treatment will be decided accordingly. He said, if necessary, Abba was being considered to be transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.

Meanwhile, New York Bangladesh Press Club President Abu Taher and General Secretary Monwarul Islam, news media UNA Editor ABM Salahuddin Ahmed, Executive Council and Trustee Board members of Bangladesh Society expressed deep grief and condolences to the bereaved family on the sudden death of senior journalist Main Uddin Ahmed.
In a condolence message, the officials of the society have asked for prayers from all expatriates for the soul of the deceased.
President of the Bnagladesh society Mohammad Rab Miah and general secretary Md Ruhul Amin Siddiqui and chairman of the board of trustees Mohammad Aziz have sought prayers from all.
