Sheikh Kamal’s birth anniversary celebration in BD Permanent Mission at UN

Staff Reporter: Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York celebrated the 74th birth anniversary of martyred freedom fighter Captain Sheikh Kamal. Local time on Saturday (August 5) in the auditorium of the Mission, the greatest Bengali of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, prayed for forgiveness of the departed souls of the martyred martyr Captain Sheikh Kamal and all the members of the family of the Father of the Nation who were martyred by the merciless bullet of the assassin on August 15, 1975 prayers are offered.

This was followed by speeches by the President and Prime Minister and a documentary on the life and work of Sheikh Kamal. At the beginning of the program, prayers and prayers were offered for the departed soul of the martyred captain Sheikh Kamal and all the martyred members of the family of the father of the nation who were killed by the assassin’s bullet on August 15, 1975. This was followed by speeches by the President and Prime Minister and a documentary on the life and work of Sheikh Kamal.
Mohammad Abdul Muhith, Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United Nations, delivered the keynote speech at the event. He said, “Sheikh Kamal was a passing legend. In just 26 years of life, he has left numerous contributions for the country and the people of the country. As a dedicated, struggling and idealistic political activist, Shaheed Sheikh Kamal played a heroic role in the popular uprising of 1969 and the great liberation war of 1971. At the call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he directly participated in the Great War of Liberation. Has worked tirelessly for the development of sports and cultural arena of Bangladesh. He was the founder of Abahani Krirachakra, one of the founders of Dhaka Theatre, a pioneer of the Group Theater Federation movement in independent Bangladesh. He founded the Spandan Art Group.
The permanent representative also said that the dream of the visionary young Sheikh Kamal is being realized through the extraordinary progress made in sports and culture in Bangladesh today under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Finally, Ambassador Muhith concluded his speech by calling upon the present young generation to emulate the life and work of martyred Captain Sheikh Kamal and work for the country.
Officials and staff of the mission spoke in the open discussion session. Various aspects of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal’s life and work come up in the open discussion. The speakers expressed the hope that the youth of the country will hold the ideals of Sheikh Kamal and bring Bangladesh to a higher place in the field of sports and culture. At the end of the discussion, the event was announced by cutting the cake and celebrating Sheikh Kamal’s birthday.
