Killing people without trial cannot be spirit of liberation war: Dr. Asif Nazrul

Noman Sabit: Dhaka University professor and political expert visiting the United States Dr. Asif Nazrul said, killing people without trial in the name of gunfight and crossfire and voting during the day at night is not the spirit of the liberation war? It is not the spirit of the liberation war. He said these things while participating in the 4th international conference of Bhasani Foundation in Queens, New York on Sunday (September 10) local time.

The conference was held at Queen’s Palace under the chairmanship of the newly elected president of Bhasani Foundation, Ali Imam Shikder. The program was conducted by the general secretary of the organization Moinuddin Nasser. Imran Ansari, Deputy General Secretary of the organization delivered the welcome speech.

In the speech of the chief guest, Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul said that killing people without trial in the name of gunfight and crossfire and voting during the day and night is not the spirit of liberation war. Maulana Bhasani was a man of pure spirit of liberation war. Bhasani’s long march is the spirit of liberation war. Today the country is being sold to stay in power. Another country is called Swami. Asif Nazrul mentioned that a group of people are working against Islam in the name of secularism in Bangladesh.
Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani’s long struggling life was further discussed by Bhasani expert Soumitra Dastidar, Dr. Laili Uddin, Mohammad Hossain Khan, Dr. Wadud Bhuiyan, Dr. Abid Bahar, Nahidul H Khan, Professor Dewan Shamsul Arefin, Syed Tipu Sultan, Fakrul Alam, Azharul Haque Milan, Kazi Azam, Mohammad Ali, Mahmudur Reza Chowdhury, Santli Haque, Hasan Ali, Amin Mehdi, Saeed Tarek, Abul Kashem, Ashrafuzzaman, Asif Akram, Eng. Abdul Khalek, Darad Ahmed, Lutfar Rahman Helal, Advocate Mojibur Rahman, Anwar Hossain Liton, Abu Taleb Chandu, Professor Syed Azad, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Qazi Fauzia, Journalist Qazi Shamsul Haque, Dr. Wazed A Khan, Abu Taher, Monowarul Islam, Ratan Talukder, Mohammad Syed and Mizanur Rahman.
The negotiators felt the need for bold leadership like Bhasani to restore the democratic environment and build a corruption-free Bangladesh.

Rizia Parveen, Shamim Siddiqui, Chandra Roy and Hasan Mahmud performed music after the discussion. Soumitra Dastidar presented a documentary on the life of Maulana Bhasani in the event. A magazine containing Bhasani’s information was released at the conference. Imran Ansari and Shamsul Arefin were the convenors of the souvenir committee and editors of the magazine respectively.
