Another Bangladeshi dies of Corona in Los Angeles

Staff Reporter: Another Bangladeshi expatriate Abdul Mannan has died of corona infection in Los Angeles, California, USA. He died Saturday morning (December 2) at San Antonio Regional Hospital in Upland. He was 79 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, 4 daughters and 1 son and numerous relatives. Engineer Jamshed Haider, former president of the American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers and Architects (AABEA) Southern California, has confirmed his death.
The late Abdul Mannan has lived in Los Angeles for 22 long years. He was a resident of Ontario City, San Bernardino County, adjacent to Los Angeles. He was admitted to the San Antonio Regional Hospital two weeks ago after suffering a corona. His country home is said to be in Comilla district. He was working as a cooperative officer in Bangladesh. His death has cast a shadow of mourning among expatriates in the United States, including California. Engineer Jamshed Haider, former president of the well-known American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers and Architects (AABEA) Southern California in Los Angeles, and Engineer Murshed, chairman of the board of trustees of the Bangladesh Unity Federation of Los Angeles (BUFLA) his brother in law.
Leaders and activists of various social and cultural organizations in Los Angeles, including the Bangladesh Unity Federation of Los Angeles (Buffalo) family, have expressed their condolences over the death of Abdul Mannan. At the same time, the leaders expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
The death toll among Bangladeshis in Los Angeles has risen to six after Abdul Mannan’s death. About 20 expatriates are still hospitalized and 3 are on ventilation.
