40th FOBANA Press conference to be held on January 12 in Dhaka

Staff Reporter: A press conference will be held at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Monday (January 12) in connection with the upcoming 40th Convention of the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA), the largest umbrella organization of Bangladeshis in North America.

The press conference is being organized by the Bangladesh Association of California (BAC), the host organization of the 40th FOBANA Convention, which is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, California.

FOBANA Chairperson Rabiul Karim Belal, Executive Secretary Khaled Ahmed Rouf and Joint Secretary Anthony Pius Gomes along with several other FOBANA officials, are expected to attend the press conference.

Sources say that Zainul Abedin, Convener of the 40th FOBANA Convention, Mohammad Iqbal, Member Secretary, and Moazzem Chowdhury, President of the host organization, have already arrived in Dhaka. In addition, FOBANA officials Rehan Reza, Golam Faruk Bhuiyan, Maqbul Ali, and Kazi Nahid are also currently in Dhaka.

The 40th FOBANA Convention will be held on September 4–6, during the Labor Day weekend, at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The event is being hosted by the Bangladesh Association of California (BAC).

The host organization and the FOBANA Executive Committee have already begun preliminary work to ensure the success of the convention. Details of the overall plans and preparations will be formally announced at Monday’s press conference at the National Press Club.

FOBANA officials expressed hope that representatives of the Bangladesh government, distinguished guests, cultural figures, members of civil society, media professionals, and chief executives and sponsors from various organizations will be present at the event.
