Barcelona shone against Alavés
Bangla Press Desk : Barcelona had an excellent start to the season, scoring 49 goals across all competitions in just 11 matches. However, their momentum hit a wall against PSG; following a 4-2 defeat in Paris, they also suffered a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid. But against Alavés, Barcelona roared back to life. Putting the sting of two consecutive defeats behind them, they found the back of the net six times, securing a 6-1 victory and returning to winning ways.
Three players stood out as the heroes of the match: Raphinha and Lamine Yamal each scored twice, while Fermín López contributed one goal and provided two assists. Late in the game, substitute Anthony Gordon added another goal.
At their home ground, the Camp Nou, Barcelona took the lead after just eight minutes. Fermín latched onto a through ball from Pedri and set up Raphinha, who fired a powerful shot into the net from close range. The second goal arrived in the 23rd minute, with Fermín finding the target from a tight angle following a pass from Yamal.
In the meantime, Alavés had opportunities to narrow the deficit, but the visitors failed to capitalize—Abde Rebbach, Ángel Pérez, and Lucas Boyé were all unable to score.
In the 41st minute, Raphinha netted his second of the match. After Fermín won the ball in midfield and played it forward to Raphinha, the Brazilian forward found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and curled a beautiful shot into the goal.
In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Yamal got on the scoresheet, sending a low shot from the edge of the box into the bottom-left corner.
Barcelona continued to dominate after the break, though they had to wait until the 64th minute for their next goal. Gabriel Jesus, coming off the bench, provided the assist for Yamal, who chipped the ball into the net. An offside flag was raised after the ball crossed the goal line, but the goal was awarded following a VAR review.
In the 81st minute, Gordon—who had come on as a substitute—scored. He used his pace to get past Alavés’ Ander Guevara, made a run in behind the defense, and then beat goalkeeper Sivera with a delicate chip.
Three minutes later, Alavés pulled a goal back. Mariano Díaz capitalized on a misplaced backpass from Rodri to beat Joan García, denying Barça a clean sheet.
This victory was particularly special for Barça coach Hansi Flick; it marked his 100th win as the club's manager across all competitions. He reached this milestone in just 130 matches—a feat surpassed only by Luis Enrique, who hit the 100-win mark in 126 games.
