Staff Reporter: The first Janaza prayer for Bangladeshi young engineer Shakib Ali will be held today, Wednesday, at an Islamic Center in Los Angeles, California. The prayer is scheduled for 8:00 PM local time in Los Angeles (11:00 PM New York time), according to community leaders.
Following the completion of formalities and receipt of the death certificate, plans are underway to transport his body to Atlanta, Georgia, where a second Janaza will be held on Friday, sources from the Georgia Bangladesh Society said.
Shakib Ali’s body was discovered Monday morning at his apartment in Marina del Rey, California, after his parents Dr. Muhammad Ali Manik and Shakira Ali Bacchi grew concerned when they were unable to reach him for several days. Police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy.
Shakib, 32, worked as a software engineer at Amazon and had moved to California just six months ago for his job.

Meanwhile, the Georgia Bangladesh Society has postponed its scheduled Boishakhi Mela and cultural program on April 12 in light of his passing.
