Headquarters has requested information on 357 police officers.
Bangla Press Desk: Police Headquarters has requested information regarding criminal cases and departmental disciplinary matters concerning 357 officers from the 30th and 31st batches of the BCS (Police) cadre. Letters have been dispatched to various police units across the country, directing them to submit the required information by November 3.
This directive was issued on Sunday (November 1) via a letter from the Crime Analysis branch of Police Headquarters. The officers in question include 179 individuals from the 30th BCS batch and 178 from the 31st BCS batch.
The letter requests details on whether any criminal cases are pending against the officers, and if so, the current status and latest updates regarding those cases. The information must be submitted in both hard copy and soft copy formats within the stipulated timeframe.
The letter, signed by AIG (Crime Analysis) Mohammad Saifullah, has been sent to the Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the Additional IGP of the Railway Police, DIGs of various ranges, and Commissioners of several other metropolitan police units.
Previously, on Thursday (October 29), the Personnel Management-1 branch of Police Headquarters had also issued an urgent directive to collect information concerning departmental disciplinary matters and criminal cases involving these officers. Following this, the Crime Analysis branch has now reiterated the request for information from the various units.
All 357 officers on the list hold the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police or Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police. They are currently serving across various police units, including Police Headquarters, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), the Armed Police Battalion (APBn), various range and district police units, the Highway Police, the Industrial Police, and In-Service Training Centers.
In addition to their current postings, the list also notes specific circumstances for some of the officers; for instance, one officer is listed as being under temporary suspension, while another is noted to be on deputation at the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia. However, the letter from Police Headquarters does not state or conclude that all 357 listed officers are facing criminal charges. Instead, various police units have been instructed to verify whether these officers are involved in any criminal cases and, if so, to ascertain the current status of those cases.
