MUNA national president Imam Delouer Hussain praises U.S Bangla media

Chhabed Sathee: Imam Delouer Hussain, National President of Muslim Ummah of North America (MUNA), said that thanks to the Bangla media in the United States, MUNA has gained extensive publicity and outreach worldwide. Step by step, the 8th annual MUNA Grand Conference has received an overwhelming response from expatriates. For this, he sincerely thanked the Bangla media workers in the United States. He made these remarks during a meeting with Bangla media personnel on Sunday morning (August 10) at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Imam Delouer Hussain said that every year they arrange such meetings with journalists, where they warmly accept the opinions and suggestions from media representatives. They try to implement these recommendations in the next conference. He acknowledged that it is natural to face challenges when organizing such a large conference for the Muslim Ummah, but their volunteers always strive to resolve issues quickly.

The conference, held under the slogan 'The Torchbearers of Islam in Spreading the faith Globally', began on Friday afternoon (August 8) with the Friday prayers at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, and continued until Sunday evening (August 10). According to organizers, on the first day alone, thousands of Muslims gathered—more than in previous years—and over the three days, more than 20,000 devout expatriate Muslims from various countries participated.

In response to a question from the US-based Bangla Press, Imam Delouer Hussain said that MUNA officials are considering organizing the Muslim Ummah Grand Conference in other US states in the future. The conference has been held continuously for seven years in Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center. If a suitable venue is available, they plan to hold it in any state in the United States in the future.

He mentioned that MUNA’s first conference was held in New York, and since then, it has been held in Philadelphia for seven consecutive years. Holding the conference in Philadelphia offers great convenience for people from Pennsylvania and nearby states such as Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Rhode Island, as they can easily travel by car. He noted that if it were held in a distant state, many people might lose interest in attending.

If a large-scale venue like the Pennsylvania Convention Center is available, the conference could be held in another state in the future. However, he clarified that there are currently no plans to hold the conference in Canada.

During the meeting, he assured that future conferences would address various challenges faced by media personnel in covering the event, taking into consideration their advice and suggestions.

He also stated that MUNA has a strong media team led by National Media Director Anisur Rahman Gazi, assisted by Mominul Islam Mazumder and Rashid Ahmed.

The meeting was attended by Arman Chowdhury (CPA), convener and executive director of the Muslim Ummah Grand Conference; MUNA’s former national president Harun O' Rashid, Mominul Islam Mazumder, Rashid Ahmed, M. Nuruzzaman, Abdullah Al Arif, Aminur Rasul Jamshed, and print and electronic media representatives from various states.
