Press conference on 40th FOBANA convention held in Dhaka

Staff Reporter: A press conference was held at the National Press Club in Dhaka to discuss preparations and overall plans for the 40th convention of the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA), the largest umbrella organization of Bangladeshis in North America.

The press conference took place on Monday (January 12) at 3:00 p.m. local time at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall, where leaders of the executive committee and the host committee briefed journalists on various aspects of the upcoming convention.

40th FOBANA Convention Convener Zainul Abedin 

Speaking at the event, 40th FOBANA Convention Convener Zainul Abedin said that this year’s convention aims to move beyond the traditional format and present FOBANA in a new and distinctive way. “We want to make this convention a milestone in FOBANA’s history. That is why we selected a venue that attracts tourists from around the world,” he said.

He noted that Universal City in Los Angeles is a major hub of the global entertainment industry, offering a unique blend of history, modern attractions, and cultural experiences. Participants and visitors will have the opportunity to explore Universal Studios Hollywood, including the famous Studio Tour, the magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and the thrilling Fast & Furious ride.

Among others present at the press conference were FOBANA Executive Secretary Khaled Ahmed Rouf, Member Secretary of the Convener Committee Mohammad Iqbal, President Moazzem Chowdhury, and FOBANA officials Rehan Reza, Golam Faruk Bhuiyan, Mokbul Ali, Nahidul Khan, and Kazi Nahid.

The 40th FOBANA Convention will be held from September 4 to 6, over the Labor Day weekend, at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The host organization for this year’s convention is the Bangladesh Association of California (BAC). The host organization and the FOBANA Executive Committee have already begun preliminary work to ensure the success of the event.

The press conference was attended by government officials, distinguished guests, intellectuals, artists, members of the media, and executives and sponsors from several organizations.
