When you sit facing the opposite direction of the car's motion, your eyes see that you are moving backwards. But your inner ear senses that the car is moving forward. And when the brain receives these two different and opposite signals together, it gets confused. This neurological disturbance causes instability in your body and nausea begins.

And when we look at the speed of the car, our eyes see the road ahead. As a result, the brain can sense when the car will turn or brake in advance and prepare the body. But if you sit facing the opposite direction, it is impossible to get that prediction. As a result, the body cannot adjust to sudden jerks or turns, which increases motion sickness, especially on hilly or winding roads.

Therefore, to reduce motion sickness and nausea, take anti-emetic (such as domperidone or vomit) medicines as advised by your doctor an hour before traveling. Sit in the front seat, look at a distant stationary object outside the window. Avoid reading on your mobile phone.
