Shahid Kapoor asked to take a picture of Mira’s shoes the first time he saw her.
Bangla Press Desk: The playful banter and sweet chemistry between popular Bollywood couple Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput have always captivated their fans. Their love story, too, is filled with amusing anecdotes. Recently, Shahid and Mira appeared on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ alongside Shahid’s younger brother, Ishaan Khatter, where they shared a funny memory from their first meeting.
Recounting the experience of meeting Shahid for the first time, Mira shared that after chatting for a few hours, the actor suddenly asked her to take a picture of his shoes. She was quite taken aback by such an unusual request.
Mira mentioned that after they had been talking for about two to three hours, Shahid asked her to take out her phone and photograph his shoes. Although she was somewhat surprised by the request during their first encounter, she eventually took the photo using the camera flash. She then showed him the picture and asked what was so special about them. Shahid proudly explained that his shoes glowed in the dark—a detail that didn't seem particularly special to Mira.
However, there was a specific reason behind these peculiar shoes: Shahid revealed that he wore them to counter the flashes from paparazzi cameras. He also spoke lightheartedly about the age gap between them at the time of their first meeting.
According to Shahid, Mira was 20 years old when they first met, while he was 34. They were so engrossed in discussing whether their perspectives would align that they didn't even realize seven hours had passed. The actor admitted that it hadn't occurred to him that Mira, being from outside the film industry, might not understand the purpose behind his unique footwear.
During the show, Shahid also shared memories of his first meeting with Mira’s family before their wedding. At the time, he was busy shooting for the film ‘Udta Punjab’ and, for his character ‘Tommy Singh,’ he had dyed his hair a striking shade of green. He arrived at Mira’s home in Delhi sporting that very look.
Shahid recalled that it was his future father-in-law who opened the door. The actor recalls how Mira’s father—an engineer by profession and an IIT alumnus—was left momentarily stunned upon seeing his green hair and eccentric attire.
Recounting the moment, Shahid shared that his father-in-law is a very disciplined man. When he opened the door and saw Shahid’s unconventional look, he froze in surprise. Judging by his expression, Shahid felt that his father-in-law was likely wondering what kind of man his daughter was about to marry—a scene the actor still remembers vividly today.
It wasn’t just Mira’s father who was taken aback; Mira herself felt quite uneasy after watching Shahid’s film *Udta Punjab* following their marriage. The couple watched the film together in an editing room. Describing her reaction, Shahid jokingly remarked that Mira, sitting at the other end of the sofa, became quite anxious—haunted by a single question: "Who have I married?"
During the show, there was also some lighthearted banter about Shahid’s film *Kabir Singh*. When host Kapil Sharma made a joke about the movie, Shahid revealed that it was actually Mira who had encouraged him to take on the role. Mira, for her part, mentioned that she hadn’t watched many of Shahid’s films before their marriage, though *Jab We Met* was one of her personal favorites.
Notably, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput tied the knot in 2015. They have two children—a daughter, Misha, born in 2016, and a son, Zain, who arrived in 2018. Their appearance on Kapil Sharma’s show made it clear that, even after more than a decade of marriage, their bond—filled with laughter, love, and playful teasing—remains as strong as ever.
