Trump congratulated the Democrats
BanglaPress Desk: Following the Democratic Party's victory in both chambers of Congress during the U.S. midterm elections, President Donald Trump has congratulated his opponents, acknowledging that the Democrats performed well.
At the same time, he admitted that issues such as the conflict involving Iran and rising fuel prices contributed to his party's poor performance in the elections.
In an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier, Trump shared his reaction to the election results.
He expressed some surprise at the success of the opposing camp, noting that although the Republicans held large public rallies, the actual election outcomes did not meet expectations.
According to Trump, the high cost of fuel fueled public discontent, which negatively impacted his party's electoral prospects. However, he does not view these results as a major setback for his administration.
The U.S. President expressed an interest in working with the Democrats on future legislation, while clarifying that he has no plans to reshuffle his cabinet in the wake of the electoral defeat.
Regarding Iran, Trump stated that the United States might need to take significant action, including the possibility of a robust military strike if necessary. He emphasized that Tehran will, under no circumstances, be permitted to acquire nuclear weapons.
With the Democrats securing a majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, their influence over the legislative process in Congress will increase. This shift is likely to create new political challenges for the implementation of the President's policy initiatives.
