Zahir Elected New FOBANA Chairperson, Pryalal Executive Secretary
Chhabed Sathee, from Los Angeles: The Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) has announced its new Executive Committee for the 2026–27 term. Mohammad M. Rahman Zahir has been elected Chairperson, while Dr. Pryalal Karmakar has been elected Executive Secretary of the organization.
The election was held on Sunday, September 6, following FOBANA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Hilton Hotel in Universal City, Los Angeles, California.
In the election, M. Rahman Zahir was elected Chairperson and Dr. Pryalal Karmakar was elected Executive Secretary for the one-year 2026–27 term.
Voting was conducted under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner Mohammad Mahbub Reza Rahim. The Election Commissioner said the election was conducted smoothly and democratically in accordance with the organization’s established rules and procedures.
Attorney Mohammad Alamgir and Duke Khan assisted the Chief Election Commissioner in conducting the election.
Voting was conducted smoothly under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner Mohammad Mahbub Reza Rahim. The Election Commissioner said the election was conducted democratically and in full accordance with the organization’s established rules and procedures. He was assisted by Attorney Mohammad Alamgir and Duke Khan.
According to the results announced by the Chief Election Commissioner, Mohammad M. Rahman Zahir was elected Chairperson, Abir Alamgir Vice Chairperson, Dr. Pryalal Karmakar Executive Secretary, Anthony Gomez Pius Joint Secretary, and Nahida Naser Yasmin Treasurer.
The following individuals were also elected as Outstanding Members: Rabiul Karim Belal, Dr. Zainul Abedin, Mohammad Iqbal, Shamsuddin Sagar, Muhammad Ali Manik, Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiya, Makbul M. Ali, Babul Hai, and Dr. Abdus Sattar.
Among the listed member organizations, the following secured Executive Member positions: Bangladesh American Society of Greater Houston (Imtiaz Ahmed Pavel), Bangladesh Association of Georgia (Jasim Uddin), Bangladesh Association of Greater Kansas City (Rehan Reza), Friends and Family (Abu Rumi), BITPO (Shamsuddin Mahmud), Friends and Family DMV Inc. (Akhtar Hossain), Bangladesh Association of Florida Inc. (Shafiqul Islam Jewel), Bangladesh Association of North Texas—BANT (Hasmat Mobin), Bangladesh Mela (Taufiq Suleman Khan Tuhin), Association of Greater Washington D.C. (Nurul Amin), Bangladesh Association of America Inc.—BAAI (Dilshad M. Chowdhury), Bangladesh Association Houston (Ajmal A. Khan), Friends and Family Houston (Nadim Bhuiya), Sundarban (Karim Salauddin), Bangladesh American Society (Sayedul Haque), and Bengali Boys Cultural Association of Georgia (Russell Bhuiya).
