BanglaPress Desk: Two to three low-pressure areas may form in the Bay of Bengal during the current month of November. Of these, one or two could potentially develop into cyclones. This information was provided in the long-term weather forecast for November issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department. However, rainfall across the country is expected to be below normal this month.

The forecast indicates that both day and night temperatures may gradually decrease throughout the month, though they are likely to remain above the seasonal average. In some parts of the country and along river basins, light to moderate fog may occur from the early hours of the morning until later in the morning. Meanwhile, the flow of water in the country’s major rivers is expected to remain normal.

According to the division-wise forecast, the Dhaka division may receive 15–25 mm of rainfall in November (the normal average for the month is 26 mm). Expected rainfall for other divisions is as follows: 10–15 mm for Mymensingh, 15–25 mm for Sylhet, 10–15 mm for Rajshahi, 15–25 mm for Khulna, and 30–40 mm for Barishal.

The highest rainfall is expected in the Chattogram division (35–40 mm), while the lowest is anticipated in the Rangpur division (4–8 mm).

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon withdrew from Bangladesh on October 9. Rainfall across the country in October was 68% below the normal average.

Additionally, two low-pressure areas formed in the Bay of Bengal during October; one of these intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm named 'Arnab,' which crossed the coast of Andhra Pradesh, India, on October 28.

Furthermore, the forecast for the 24-hour period starting from 6:00 PM on Thursday (November 5) indicates that the weather across the country is likely to remain mainly dry, with the sky being partly cloudy at times. Both day and night temperatures may see a slight decline nationwide.
