577 Held in Dhaka-Wide Anti-Crime Operations
Bangla Press Desk: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 577 people in a 24-hour anti-crime crackdown across the capital, filing 40 cases and recovering drugs, weapons and other items.
According to a DMP statement, the arrests were made during raids in different parts of the city.
The highest number of arrests was made by Mirpur division with 143, followed by Tejgaon with 114 and Wari with 80.
Police seized six cocktails, 32 kg 655 grams of cannabis, 623 yaba tablets and seven grams of heroin during the operation.
They also recovered two Chinese axes, two switchblades, a knife and a dagger, along with two private cars and an auto-rickshaw.
Besides, police recovered seven laptops, 67 mobile phones, 484 SIM cards, 27 visa cards and four electronic chips.
Legal proceedings against the arrested persons are underway.
