Actress Samira Khan Mahi has won the Miss Universe Bangladesh crown.

BanglaPress Desk: Popular small-screen actress Samira Khan Mahi has been crowned ‘Miss Universe Bangladesh 2026.’ Her victory was announced during a grand event held at a hotel in the capital on Saturday (November 7). Overcome with emotion upon hearing her name, Mahi was crowned by the reigning ‘Miss Universe Bangladesh,’ Tanzia Zaman Mithila. The two then embraced, and as they walked across the stage together, the entire auditorium erupted in applause.

For the event, Mahi wore a shimmering, champagne-gold mermaid-style gown, featuring an off-shoulder design adorned with intricate, heavy stonework. The outgoing titleholder, Tanzia Zaman Mithila, wore a light blue and silver gown with a unique, wing-like design at the shoulders. Popular actress Toma Mirza was also present on stage during the announcement of the winner.

The organizers announced that Samira Khan Mahi will represent Bangladesh at the 75th ‘Miss Universe International’ pageant, which is set to take place starting November 11 in Puerto Rico, located along the Atlantic Ocean. A familiar face to television audiences, Mahi has gained popularity not only for her acting but also for her natural poise and self-confidence. She has now earned the top honor at the national level of this beauty pageant.

In her immediate reaction, Mahi said, "My parents told me, 'Go, conquer the world.' I ask for everyone's blessings so that I may return having conquered the world and bring honor to Bangladesh. If I win, Bangladesh wins." In 2025, Tanzia Zaman Mithila represented Bangladesh at the 74th Miss Universe pageant, where she competed against contestants from 122 countries and secured a spot in the top 30—marking the first time Bangladesh achieved a placement on the Miss Universe stage. Additionally, she brought glory to the country by securing the top spot in the ‘People’s Choice’ category.

Following in the footsteps of Mithila, Mahi will now represent Bangladesh on the global ‘Miss Universe’ stage.
