Bangladesh Aviation and Tourism Journalists Association starts journey

Bangla Press Desk: A new organisation for journalists covering the aviation and tourism sectors has been launched in Dhaka with the aim of protecting professional interests and enhancing skills.

The Bangladesh Aviation and Tourism Journalists Association (BATJA) officially began its journey at a meeting held at the auditorium of the Dhaka Crime Reporters Association on Sunday. The association brings together journalists from different media outlets specialising in aviation and tourism reporting.At the founding meeting, a nine-member executive committee was unanimously formed. Desh TV reporter Alimuzzaman Safwan was appointed Convener, while Ekushey Television reporter Iman Chowdhury was elected Member Secretary. Other committee members are Md Shahadat Hossain (Desh Samachar), Tanzila Khan Mim (Ekhon TV), Kazi Faisal (Channel 24), Muhammad Jahangir Kabir (The Daily Ittefaq), Mehedi Hasan Murad (The Daily Inqilab), Ariful Islam (News Twenty Four), and Mahtab Minhaj (ATN News).

Leaders of BATJA said the association will work to strengthen cooperation among journalists covering civil aviation, airports, airlines, and related sectors, ensure fact-based and quality journalism, and safeguard professional rights.

They also noted that, given the strategic importance of the aviation sector, BATJA will organise regular training sessions, workshops, and exchange meetings to enhance the professional skills of journalists covering this beat.

 

Among those present at the meeting were the organisation’s adviser Abu Darda Jobayer, mofussil editor of The Daily Amar Desh, and Rajib Khan, Head of Digital at Channel 24.Source: daily Sun
