Chhatra Dal holds prayer at DU

Bangla Press Desk:   Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on Friday organised a special doa and milad mahfil at Dhaka University, expressing gratitude for victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election and seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of former prime minister Khaleda Zia.

The prayer gathering took place at the Central Jame Mosque of the university after Jumma prayers on Friday, under the initiative of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).


Several senior academics, political leaders and activists attended the programme, including Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan, Bangladesh Open University Vice-Chancellor Prof ABM Obaidul Islam, DU Treasurer Prof M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Sada Dal Convener Prof Morshed Hasan Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Jubo Dal President Monayem Munna, and Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Niaz said the day marked a moment of joy for the people of Bangladesh, as they had received what he termed the “verdict of democracy” through a peaceful national election held without violence or bloodshed.He expressed gratitude to Allah for the calm and orderly electoral process.

Speaking at the mahfil, JCD President Rakibul urged leaders and activists to uphold patience, coexistence and a democratic environment in the post-election period.

During the prayers, participants expressed gratitude for historic mandate in favour of democracy and nationalism reflected in the election.

 

They also sought peace, prosperity and welfare for the nation, alongside special prayers for the eternal peace of Khaleda Zia’s soul.Source: daily Sun
