Death toll from measles, symptoms reaches nearly 800
Bangla Press Desk: The death toll from measles and related complications in Bangladesh has reached nearly 800 since authorities began recording cases and fatalities four months ago, with the outbreak showing no sign of subsiding.
The country recorded four more deaths with measles symptoms and 878 new suspected cases in the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Tuesday.
According to the DGHS bulletin, 130 cases of measles were confirmed between 8am Monday and 8am Tuesday, with no confirmed deaths during the same period.
The DGHS said that since 15 March, the total number of confirmed measles cases has stood at 14,708, while suspected cases have reached 119,448.
During the same period, 95 people died from confirmed measles, while 702 deaths were reported among suspected cases.
Besides, a total of 98,411 patients have recovered so far, the DGHS said.
