Dhaka-Rajshahi rail link disrupted after track breaks
Bangla Press Desk: Train service between Rajshahi and Dhaka have been suspended for around one and a half hours after a section of railway track broke in Natore’s Bagatipara.
Three Dhaka-bound trains from Rajshahi were stranded due to the incident, which occurred around 7am on Tuesday in the Lokmanpur area of Bagatipara, according to Rajshahi Railway Station Manager Ziaul Islam.
He said the Sagardari Express, bound for Khulna, left Rajshahi Railway Station at 6:40am. The railway track broke as the train was passing through the Lokmanpur area. However, the train safely crossed the damaged section.
As repair work began, services on the Banlata Express, Silk City Express and Madhumati Express, all bound for Dhaka from Rajshahi, were halted. The Banlata Express and Silk City Express were stranded at Rajshahi Railway Station, while the Madhumati Express was held at Harian Station.
He said repairs to the railway track were completed around 8:30am, after which the three trains departed for Dhaka with delays.
The station manager said passengers on the affected trains faced inconvenience due to the disruption.
