Eight killed in blast near Delhi’s Red Fort
Bangla Press Desk: At least eight people have been killed and several others injured after an explosion near Red Fort in Indian capital New Delhi on Monday evening.
A high alert has been sounded in Delhi, and the commercial hub of Mumbai has also been put on high alert.
The blast occurred in a car near Gate Number 1 of the Red Fort metro station, after which three to four other vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage. Around seven firefighting engines were deployed to contain the blaze.
“Police sounded a high alert in Delhi. Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot with police cordoning off the area,” the Delhi Fire Services said.
The blast coincides with the busting of a terror cell, which is linked to the Kashmir unrest, in Faridabad of Haryana province. Eight people, including three doctors, were arrested and 360-kg explosives as well as other weapons were seized during the raid coordinated by Kashmir police.
