Even if the Democrats win, power will remain in my hands: Trump
BanglaPress Desk: Despite projections that the US midterm elections could prove difficult for the Republican Party, US President Donald Trump remains steadfast in his resolve. He has warned that should the Democrats gain control of the Senate or the House of Representatives, he is prepared to exercise his authority to the fullest extent.
In an exclusive interview with CBS News, Trump stated that he would use his veto power to block any legislation introduced by the Democrats—adding that he would have no objection to being dubbed "Mr. Veto."
Although political analysts and pollsters suggest that the Democrats may secure control of the House, Trump remains entirely confident in his ability to carry out his agenda. He noted that the Supreme Court has granted him unprecedented executive authority over the federal government. Citing the historic 6-3 ruling in this year’s case of *Trump v. Slatter*, he asserted that regardless of which party holds the majority in Congress, the ruling empowers him to exercise unilateral control over various federal agencies, boards, and commissions.
Sources close to Trump indicate that even if the Democrats emerge victorious in the elections, he intends to continue implementing his policies—covering areas such as immigration, trade, and national security—through the use of executive orders, with the assistance of top advisors like Stephen Miller and Russell Vought.
Beyond the realm of politics, Trump—who transitioned from a real estate developer to the presidency—discussed his various development and reform initiatives. He took the opportunity to criticize the administration of Barack Obama, pointing to the state of disrepair—such as broken windows and damaged walls—that he encountered at the White House.
Looking ahead beyond his current term, Trump outlined his goals for 2027: completing a new ballroom and a military complex at the White House, as well as commencing the construction of a proposed 250-foot-long archway.
Furthermore, he highlighted his efforts to beautify Washington, D.C., by overseeing the removal of unsightly graffiti from approximately 97 locations across the city. However, stating that he is not discussing the possibility of running again in the 2028 US election, Trump noted that there are legal and constitutional complexities involved, and added that the Republican Party currently has several capable young candidates.
