Govt takes new decision on general holiday for workers on 10 Feb
Bangla Press Desk: The Ministry of Labour and Employment has declared 10 February a general holiday for workers and employees of factories located in industrial areas in view of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
As a result, industrial workers will enjoy a three-day holiday from 10 to 12 February. However, factory owners will be allowed to make up for the 10 February holiday by engaging workers for one additional working day at a later time. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Advisory Council on Thursday, according to the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.
The press wing said that factories implementing the 10 February holiday for workers during the national election and referendum period may, if necessary, compensate for the holiday by requiring workers to work for one day on any subsequent date.
The decision was made following an application by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), the press wing added.
