Man sentenced to prison in the U.S for loan fraud
Brian Socha was sentenced
Staff Reporter: A former loan officer from Brookfield is headed to federal prison for defrauding the MassMutual Federal Credit Union out of nearly a million dollars.
45-year-old Brian Socha was sentenced to 18 months after admitting a 6-year bank fraud scheme. Prosecutors say Socha hacked into his co-workers’ computers more than 20 times, covertly raising the credit limit on his own home equity line.
He managed to boost his limit from $135,000 to nearly $1 million, while slashing his interest rate below market levels. Socha will have to repay the money he stole.
