Parliament passes bill on rehabilitation of July fighters, martyrs' families
Bangla Press Desk: The parliament on Friday passed the “Welfare and Rehabilitation of Families of Martyrs and Fighters of the July Uprising Bill, 2026” through voice vote.
The proposal was placed in the House in the afternoon by Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan.Moving the bill, the minister said it aims to ensure welfare and rehabilitation of the families of those martyred in the July uprising and the July fighters, as well as to establish the spirit and ideals of the uprising in national life.He also said the bill seeks to preserve the history of the movement.
Later, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal put the bill to vote, and members of parliament approved it by voice vote.
The National Parliament passed a total of 24 bills in two sessions on Friday, aimed at transforming ordinances issued during the interim government into formal laws.
