Probe report submission deferred for fourth time to 3 February
Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court on Thursday set 3 February for the submission of the probe report in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam set the new date after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the report within the scheduled time. This marks the fourth deferral of the probe report submission.
On 6 January, DB Inspector Faisal Ahmed, the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet against 17 accused, including Faisal Karim Masud alias Daud, and his associate Alamgir Hossain.
However, on 15 January, the plaintiff, Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed a no-confidence (naraji) petition, stating that the charge sheet skipped the “main planners” behind the killing.
Subsequently, the court directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the case.
On 12 December last year, Hadi, an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency and a key figure in the July Uprising, was shot in Dhaka’s Paltan area. He died on 18 December while receiving treatment in Singapore.
On 14 December, Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Model Police Station over the incident which later turned into a murder case after the death of Hadi.
