Rakib Reacts to DUCSU Incident, Urges Students to Stay Calm
Bangla Press Desk: Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib has expressed regret over an incident of alleged assault on Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) leaders at Shahbagh Police Station.
At the same time, he urged the injured not to create any situation that could escalate into ‘mob violence’.Speaking to journalists in Shahbagh on Thursday night, he said, “First of all, on behalf of Chhatra Dal, I express regret over today’s unfortunate incident. At the same time, I respectfully request our four injured fellow activists not to create any situation that could potentially lead to mob formation.”
He said five individuals came to Shahbagh Police Station after posting on social media. “They made posts and came here, but they could have brought everyone together. We have been in communication with their other associates, but they came to the police station without any discussion with us,” he added.Rakib further said that certain social media posts had deeply hurt Chhatra Dal activists. “Naturally, such photo cards have caused deep emotional distress among our leaders and activists. We have been exercising patience, but our patience has reached its limit,” he said.
He also criticised what he described as “negative propaganda” on social media, urging students and the public to judge the situation carefully.
