Rump predicts swift end to Iran conflict, citing lack of targets
Bangla Press Desk: US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the war with Iran will end “soon,” claiming there’s little left to target and reiterating that the decision to end the conflict will be his call.
“Little this and that… Any time I want it to end, it will end,” he told Axios in a brief phone interview.
Trump's confidence about the war's timeline could allay concerns about Iranian warning that oil prices would hit $200 per barrel. It also challenged Tehran's claim of control over the Strait of Hormuz.
“The war is going great. We are way ahead of the timetable. We have done more damage than we thought possible, even in the original six-week period,” Trump said.
On Wednesday, US military officials claimed a huge missile factory in Iran was hit and 60 Iranian warships was rendered inoperable.
The US struck a “large ballistic missile manufacturing facility” in Iran last night, Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command, said.
“We are methodically dismantling them by hitting Iranian missiles and drones as we also strike their defense industrial base,” Cooper said in a video posted on X on Wednesday providing an update on Operation Epic Fury. “Just last night, our bomber force hit a large ballistic missile manufacturing facility as an example.”
“So, it’s not just about what’s shooting at us today. It’s also about eliminating the threat in the future,” Cooper added.
Since the start of the war with Iran, he said, the US has hit over 5,500 targets inside the country, including over 60 ships.
“Just yesterday, we had strike waves nearly every hour from different locations and directions going into Iran,” Cooper said. “We also took out the last of four Soleimani class warships. That’s an entire class of Iranian ships now out of the fight.”
He also detailed some of the US efforts to stop end Iran’s ability to “to project power and harass shipping in the Strait of Hormuz from the air.”
“From the air, we’ve achieved a concentration of air power with back-to-back waves of advanced fighters creating constant pressure on the enemy every single day,” Cooper said. “Our dominance is not a solo effort. It’s a testament to the strength of our iron-clad alliances.” Source: daily Sun
