Tangail elects five first-time MPs across eight seats

Bangla Press Desk:   Five of the eight parliamentary constituencies in Tangail district have elected new faces in the 13th National Parliament election, with the winners set to take oath as Members of Parliament (MPs) for the first time.
The newly elected MPs are Fakir Mahbub Anam Swapan (Tangail-1), Lutfar Rahman Matin (Tangail-4), Sultan Salauddin Tuku (Tangail-5), Rabiul Awal Lavlu (Tangail-6) and Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan (Tangail-8). 
All were nominated by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and contested with the party’s electoral symbol, the sheaf of paddy.
In Tangail-1 (Madhupur-Dhanbari), Fakir Mahbub Anam Swapan secured 153,932 votes. He had previously contested multiple elections on the party’s ticket but was unsuccessful.
Industrialist Lutfar Rahman Matin won the Tangail-4 (Kalihati) seat with 105,342 votes. He earlier contested in 2008 as a BNP candidate but lost.
Sultan Salauddin Tuku was elected from Tangail-5 (Sadar) constituency with 131,279 votes. He had previously contested from Tangail-2 (Gopalpur-Bhuiyanpur) in the 2008 and 2018 elections but did not secure victory.
Rabiul Awal Lavlu clinched the Tangail-6 (Nagarpur-Delduar) seat with 150,952 votes, marking his first time contesting in a parliamentary election.
Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan won the Tangail-8 (Sakhipur-Basail) constituency with 114,217 votes. He had earlier contested several times under the BNP banner but was defeated.
Reacting to his victory, Lutfar Rahman Matin expressed gratitude to party leaders, activists and voters. “I am eternally grateful to Tarique Rahman, party leaders and activists, and the people of Kalihati,” he said, adding that he hopes to repay the people’s trust through dedicated service and seeks their continued prayers and cooperation.
