UTAB Condoles Death of Prof Md Abdul Kuddus
Bangla Press Desk: The University Teachers’ Association of Bangladesh (UTAB) has expressed deep sorrow at the death of eminent physician, freedom fighter and academic Prof Dr Md Abdul Kuddus.
In a statement issued on 26 April, UTAB said Prof Kuddus, who also served as an adviser to the BNP Chairman, passed away on Saturday at around 2:20pm while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital. He was 76.According to the statement, he had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) for a prolonged period. He is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers.
UTAB Secretary General Prof Dr Md Mosharraf Hossain Khan, in a condolence message, said Prof Kuddus was not only a distinguished physician but also a valiant freedom fighter.
He served as a faculty member of Bangladesh Medical University’s Faculty of Medical Sciences and held important administrative responsibilities, including that of a deputy superintendent.
In his political career, he was actively involved as an adviser to the BNP Chairman and as a former president of the party’s Zia Parishad central committee.The statement noted that throughout his life, Prof Kuddus remained actively engaged in movements and programmes against authoritarianism and fascism under nationalist political platforms. He was known for his professionalism, integrity and sense of responsibility.
UTAB prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
