Education Minister shares good news for students who failed the HSC exams

Bangla Press Desk : Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon has announced that 422,905 students who failed in one or two subjects in the HSC and equivalent examinations will be given the opportunity to retake the exams for those specific subjects within a month.

He shared this information in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday evening (October 31). The Education Minister also urged the students who did not pass not to lose heart, but rather to move forward with renewed enthusiasm.

In his Facebook post, the Education Minister congratulated all those who passed, noting that these results are the product of the students' own hard work, combined with the care provided by their teachers and the support of their families.

Addressing those who did not achieve the expected results, he remarked that it is natural to feel disheartened, but emphasized that no one should feel alone during such times. He encouraged them to talk to their family members and teachers. He reminded them that the outcome of a single examination does not define a person’s full potential, nor does it determine their future. He advised them to take some time, maintain self-belief, and continue their journey forward.

The Education Minister stated that efforts were made to ensure the highest level of transparency and fairness in the publication of these results. While the pass rate is a cause for concern, he noted that these results provide a realistic picture of the students' learning achievements and existing gaps. The current objective is to address these shortcomings, improve the quality of education, and better prepare the students.

He emphasized that a low pass rate is not an achievement; true success lies in students learning effectively, approaching their exams with self-confidence, and earning good results through their own merit.

Stating that the responsibility does not end by simply placing the burden on the students, the Education Minister stressed the need for a thorough review of several key areas: whether effective instruction is taking place in the classroom, whether students are receiving the necessary support, and whether the question papers and evaluation processes are appropriate. He added that ensuring integrity in examinations, while simultaneously creating opportunities for meaningful learning, is an essential part of the authorities' responsibility.

Regarding the decision to allow the 422,905 students who failed in one or two subjects to retake their exams, he explained that the initiative is designed to enable these students to prepare and make another attempt soon, rather than having to wait an entire year. Addressing teachers, the Education Minister urged them to identify the specific challenges students are facing and to support their preparation accordingly. She advised parents to listen to their children, avoid comparing them with others, and offer them reassurance. Regardless of the exam results, parents should ensure their children feel that their place of love and respect within the family remains secure.

The Education Minister further stated that the government aims to ensure every student has the opportunity for quality learning and receives a fair assessment. If any student falls behind, they will be provided with the necessary support to move forward again. The government intends to fulfill this responsibility in collaboration with teachers, parents, and students.
